Delphi NAV200 GPS Review
For a reasonable price of around $200.00, the Delphi NAV200 makes an excellent travel companion as an affordable GPS navigation system. It's a great navigation unit for first time GPS buyers.
Design
The Delphi NAV200 is lightweight and portable, measuring a mere 5.3 by 3.2 by 1 inches and weighing only 6.7 ounces. The flip-up antenna in the back adds a little bulk, but it's negligible.
The NAV200 boasts a 3.5-inch touch screen; 16.7 million colors with 320x240-pixel resolution with an antiglare coating for better viewing in daylight. You can use the virtual keyboard or the included stylus neatly tucked away at the top edge of the device for text input.
The convenient external shortcut keys - menu and screensaver to the left; zoom in / zoom out to the right -make the NAV 200 features easily accessible.
On the right, you'll find the volume control and a jack for an optional traffic receiver as well as the power connector port. On the left is where you'll find the power button and the convenient 3.5mm headphone jack.
The bottom of the device houses the SD expansion slot, but you'll need a card reader since a USB port is lacking.
The NAV200 comes nicely packaged with preloaded maps of the United States and Canada, a vehicle mount with windshield and dash options, a car charger, and reference material.
Standard or Extended Mode:
You can use the standard mode for point A to point B routes until you become familiar with extended features including multi-destination routes, point of interest searching, favorite and recent destinations, and even vehicle, pedestrian, or bicycle modes. Missing a turn is not a problem because the NAV200 will automatically recalculate a route for you!
Maps:
Maps are available in either 2D or 3D modes with a night-mode option which changes the map's color for better night viewing.
Travel Info:
getting where you need to go is easy. The NAV200 provides estimated time of arrival, remaining distance to destination, next road name, current speed, current heading, and voice-guided turn-by-turn directions.
PreLoaded Database:
In addition to the included maps, the NAV200 has a 1.6-million POI database of gas stations, hotels, ATMs, shopping centers, museums, golf courses, and more.
Extras:
The NAV200 includes a music player that support MP3 and WAV files, an AVI video player, and an image viewer that supports JPEG, GIF, and PNG images. There's even a calculator, a world clock, and a game.
