Remington AccuTip Slug Review for Deer Hunting
A far cry from the old pumpkin balls that were once common in the deer woods in many parts of the country, the Remington AccuTip is a very modern looking slug complete with a space age appearing plastic cap.
I fired the Remington AccuTip in a H R; Ultra Slug Hunter as well as in a rifled barrel Remington 870. Even though conditions were less than ideal as it was raining with a slight wind, the Remington AccuTip displayed good accuracy. Each gun shot the Remington AccuTip slugs into a little less than 2 1/2 inches at 100 yards which is certainly more than sufficient accuracy for deer hunting, though many have reported even better accuracy with the Remington AccuTip. Perhaps with better conditions the two guns that I fired the AccuTip through would shoot them better as well. The AccuTip slugs dug out from the soft dirt behind the target appeared to have expanded well which is expected when shot into dirt, but the more impressive thing is that the slugs did appear to stay together and retain a most or almost most of their original weight.
At about $13 for 5 rounds the Remington AccuTips are not cheap but they are comparably priced to other premium shotgun slugs and the expense is well worth it if your shotgun shoots them well.
