Very serviceable unit - Priced under 100 dollars US - Worth every penny
When I picked up the cam everyone one, even the cat, dove out the room. I guess he remembered the time I tried filming for America's Wackiest Videos I had titled that piece 'Why do you think they call it a catapult?. I never thought he would find his way back after that launch, specially since he landed on a garbage scow. He had a tag with his address around his neck and you don't want to know what the Taxi driver that brought him back collected from me. After a little hands-on time, the use of the cam is intuitive, By wearing Groucho Marx glasses and speaking in fake German. I snapped to my heart's content, The cat, the dog, Earl my neighbor and his wife skinny-dipping Earl won't talk to me anymore, but {his wife does. I took the pictures at the least memory setting, 1 meg, are quite good, and easy to check Immediately in its LCD display. The DXG 568 can also be used as a movie camera with good results, and as a portable voice recorder,allowing th owner to make notes on the fly without a pen. Was very useful to record Earls threats as he and his wife stood-up and squatted in turn.
The last discrete use is as a Web-Cam. Using the provided cable, it can be set up as a web-cam in minutes and the results are spectacular.
Now for Something completely different:: Useful Technical Stuff.
If a memory card is inserted into the camera, all actions all actions will be performed on the card
There are 4 resolution settings available for taking still pictures: 3680x2760, 2592x1944, 2048x1536 and 1280x960. The images with higher resolution are better for printing. However this will require more memory space and slightly longer saving time.
There are 5 white balance settings available in the Picture Mode: AUTO: automatically adjusts the white balance; applicable to general-purpose photography, SUNNY: for use outdoors when it is bright and sunny, TUNGSTEN, for use indoors with incandescent lighting, FLOURESCENT: for use indoors with fluorescent lighting and CLOUDY: for use outdoors when it is a cloudy or shady day.
Further there are adjustments for exposure and a setting for macro for close-ups. The same cable that is used to download the pictures can also be used to hook up the camera to the computer to use it as a web-cam. The resolution when compared to a regular single purpose web-cam is breathtaking.
All and all, if you don't need a fancy brand name, this camera is recommended.
