Friday Night Lights in Marion
Football is the biggest sport in my town, Marion.They do many things to get ready for a big game and get everyone pumped up!
The most traditional thing Marion does, is of course Pep rallies! They really get your body moving! The cheerleaders are cheering and everyone is moving in sync to them. There is hardly ever anyone sitting down. After they finish their cheers, it is time for the spirit stick and everyone loves that! It gives all the kids a chance to see who can scream the loudest and whoever does wins the spirit stick! It is always an exciting competition!
Another thing Marion likes to do is have a special theme for the football games, most commonly it is paint splatter. This means everyone should dress in paint splatter clothing or have paint on them and go and pack the stands on Friday nights! It is fun thing for the children to do and even the adults!
A lot of times most the kids will have a spirit day. This encourages them all to dress up in the Hurricanes colors, red and white. It is a fun way to support Marion! Even though the town is small, football is a sport that will stay in many people's hearts throughout time.
Something else we like to do is have a tailgate. It is something you can go to that offers you food,has a corn hole tournament, and just allows you to hangout with friends. Many of the kids really get into it and have fun. I am very glad that Marion does so many of these fun things to get the town into it. Without having a lot of these things,some people would not come or enjoy as much as they do now. I am proud of our town and for everyone's support with The Scarlet Hurricanes!
