Virginia may be revising dog hunting laws.
Okay to some of you this may be barbaric and gross. This is human nature and even though I grew up around it, I personally don't do it but I respect the right that other people do. Everyone I know that hunts uses their kill. These are not trophy hunters. You kill it, you eat it or you don't need to be killing it. The most beautiful thing about these people are they are natural and believe in nature and the cycle of life. Most of them agree that everything has a purpose and it is usually connected to the food chain.
Whether you believe in hunting or not if you are any self respecting person you should believe that other people have that right. As far as hunting with dogs, as long as you have permission to be on the persons property than there isn't a problem. It's when the dogs stray off the land they are supposed to be on, obviously they know no boundaries, that causes others concern.
When this happens, proper etiquette is for the hunter to go to his vehicle if he has one nearby, or walk down the road to the neighbor's house. The hunter is supposed to ask permission to go onto the property to get his animal. If the land owner being a evil says no the hunter has to wait until his dog comes home hoping the property owner doesn't do anything to his dog. The hunting dog will go home and if he is far from home it may take him a while to get there. Hopefully, the property owner has the same respect for the hunter's animal and let's him get his dog.
Supposedly landowners are complaining about damage the animals do on the property according to Hunting-dog owners try to keep opponents at bay by Steve Szkotak. Virginia will be challenging the law that the dog owner can walk onto the property to retrieve the animal. This challenge however is concerning hunting dog groups because it is going farther than just addressing dog retrieval. It may challenge using hunting dogs all together.
For the most part dogs aren't the ones that cause property damage such as the trampling through the property. Believe it or not it is the animal being chased. If it is a small animal it is not going to do much damage. Dogs aren't going to run aimlessly through your garden. They only follow the scent of the prey. I understand the property owner being upset about animals trampling flowers or gardens but hey, you live in the country where the wild animals have their habitat. Don't go blaming dogs when it isn't the dog. Do the right thing and let the dog owner get their dog. If you are concerned the owner will try to hunt on your property walk with him. If you are physically not capable of walking with him or her make them put their guns in their vehicle where you can see them. Obviously you would hear a gunshot but who knows.
