Si decides venir de vacaciones a Los Angeles, te recomiendo que vayas a tomar el té a una de estas maravillosas casas de té. Estos establecimientos sirven té al estilo británico, lo que los ingleses llaman "afternoon tea" (literalmente "té de la tarde"). La Rose Tea Room en los Jardines Huntington, el Hotel Bel Air, y el Rose Tree Cottage son ideales para celebrar un cumpleaños o pasar una tarde especial. Aunque varian en estilo y menú, las tres casas de té que recomiendo son estupendas. He estado en las tres muchas veces y he disfrutado muchísimo la experiencia del rito del té inglés. Puedes elegir entre dos tipos de té (en general entre té negro y té de frutas). En verano también ofrecen té frío. El buffet en el Huntington $19.95 por persona más impuestos, y vale la pena. Se necesitan reservas, y se suele llenar varias semanas antes, sobre todo en fín de semana.
Hotel Bel Air
Este es un lugar muy sereno e ideal para ir a tomar el té. Aunque no es una casa de té tradicional, este elegante hotel sabe hacer las cosas bien. Te recomiendo que reserves una mesa afuera, porque es un lugar muy verde y agradable al aire libre. El Hotel Bel Air tiene unos jardines preciosos y un pequeño lago con cisnes. En este elegante hotel disfrutarás de una copa de champán, una taza de té, sándwiches, tortitas varias y fresas bañadas en chocolate. Puedes elegir entre distintos tipos de té, entre ellos té de fruta de la pasión, Darjeeling, Lapsang Souchong, Earl Grey y Orange Pekoe Yo celebré mi cumpleaños aquí y me encantó el lugar. Te lo recomiendo para una experiencia inolvidable.
Rose Tree Cottage
Abierto al público desde hace más de 20 años, esta casa de té inglesa ofrece una experiencia tan auténtica del rito de té de la tarde que es como viajar al Reino Unido por unas horas. El servicio y la comida son inolvidables. Por supuesto, aquí tomarás todas las tazas que quieras de té negro con leche y azúcar, servido en una elegante tetera de porcelana. Los sándwiches de miga son perfectos, como también los scones con crema y mermelada casera. Rose Tree Cottage también ofrece productos británicos para la venta en una pequeña tienda en la casa de té. Puedes comprar el té y la mermelada tan ricos que probaste durante el servicio de té. También venden libros, adornos, teteras, tazas, y comida británica.
